David J. Johnston was born and raised in the state of Rhode Island. He received his Bachelor's degree in Business with concentrations in accounting and finance. In 1993 David started  his career in real estate. During his 16 years he has been involved in many aspects of real estate including sales, investing, building and development. In 2004 David opened a 92 room Hampton Inn and Suites. He led every aspect of the development including acquisition, approvals, acquiring the franchise, financing, building and management and eventual sale.

     David, his wife and four children have resided on Anna Maria Island since 2005. Their oldest child attends Anna Maria Elementary. He and his wife are active in the PTO. David is also very active as a coach in various sports at the Anna Maria Island Community Center.
